But even beyond this, Amie carried a deeper shame. Amie's experiences of early childhood trauma and neglect, combined with her experience of sexual abused weighted heavily on her. The guilt and shame of living with this penetrated deep and caused such an immense impact on her physical body. It wasn’t until Amie has the courage to start delving into her childhood experiences such as being an orphan, the lack of safety and security as a child, the subsequent cycles of abuse and stress, that contributed to the manifestation of pain and breaking down of the physical body.
This includes breaking the societal stigmas surrounding sexual abuse and chronic pain conditions.
